The idea behind this piece was a satirical poke at the made up "red phone" in the oval office in so many movies and the state of current societal affairs. The red phone box being a metaphor for the "red phone". The tagged and sticker covered box a metaphor for the current political state and the out of focus background a metaphor for the current state of society as a whole. The stickers are real. They are skate companies, local Denver bands and a local Denver music store. "This Is War" is painted

I loved the image and felt like I needed to paint it. A rundown building seemingly out of place. Right in the middle of the block among well kept office and warehouse buildings.

Simply an image of a building that will stir a wide array of feelings in each, individual viewer. A blight on society? A sign of urban decay? A small business owner trying to eek out a living? Nothing at all? Whatever your story is, that is the correct one. This was the oldest strip club in New Zealand. I did the painting when I read a story about how they were tearing it down.
